Pixmaker: Import Pixel Art Guide
Import Pixel Art in PixMaker
Already have a pixel-art pattern? Follow these steps to import it, match your bead colors, and prepare it for building on your PixMaker board.
Step 1. Add your pixel art
Add your pixel-art pattern from your gallery or import it using a link, then prepare it for your PixMaker project.
Step 2. Choose & crop your pixel art
Select your pixel-art image, crop the area you want to use, and adjust it to fit your design.
Step 3. Compare the result
Move the slider to compare your original pixel art with the imported version. Check the result before confirming.
Step 4. Color system
Choose your bead brand to match the design with the right colors.
Step 5. Adjust detected colors
Review the detected colors and replace any color with a closer match for the design you want to build.
Step 6. Settings
Use Settings to fine-tune your imported pixel art and improve the grid alignment.
Step 7. Choose your grid size
Set the grid to match your PixMaker board. Choose 52 × 52 or 104 × 104, depending on the board size you use.
Step 8. Fine-tune grid settings
Grid Size: Set the rows and columns.
Merge Similar Colors: Combine close colors.
Cell Size: Adjust each grid cell.
Offset: Move the grid into position.
Grid Overlay: Check the grid over your image.
Step 9. Confirm & final crop
Tap Confirm to continue to the final crop. Adjust the image if needed, then choose Edit to fine-tune your design or Save to add it to your library for building later.
Tips for more accurate imports
For best results, use a sharp, straight-on image with a clearly aligned pixel grid. Patterns with round beads, printed color codes, or uneven lighting may not import perfectly. If colors look incorrect, review Detected Colors, select the correct bead color system, and adjust Merge Similar Colors. Lower merging can preserve more distinctions but can also increase the number of colors. For single-color backgrounds, use Edit → Eraser → Zap after importing, or start with a PNG that has a transparent background.
If a pattern contains numbers or letters printed inside each bead, remove those markings from the image first where possible: they can interfere with automatic color recognition. Always compare the preview before saving.
